Hours-long standoff ends peacefully in the Township of Lake Mills
LAKE MILLS -- A 44-year-old Township of Lake Mills man is jailed after an hours-long standoff with police late on Friday, February 26th.
Officials say deputies received information around 5:15 p.m. Friday that a male subject was operating a vehicle and heading toward the Lake Mills area. The driver was allegedly under the influence and possibly suicidal. Deputies also heard the man was possibly armed and made threats to law enforcement if he is stopped.
Lake Mills police located the vehicle and attempted to stop it. The driver refused -- and drove to a home on County Road B in the Township of Lake Mills. He drove into the driveway and refused to get out or comply with any lawful orders.
Sheriff's negotiators were called to the scene. After several hours of negotiating, the man was taken into custody.
There were no injuries in this incident.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputies were assisted by Lake Mills Police and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
