Hoan Bridge reopened after suicidal man rescued

MILWAUKEE -- The Hoan Bridge was closed for about an hour Sunday afternoon as Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies rescued a suicidal man from the bridge.

Sheriff's officials say the incident began around 11:30 Sunday morning, when they received a 911 call reporting a man standing outside his stopped vehicle on the Hoan Bridge.

Deputies say the man was professing suicide and a crisis intervention team member was able to negotiate with the man and get him to step back over the outer bridge wall where he was standing, back onto the bridge deck. The man was taken to the hospital.

The Hoan Bridge reopened just before 12:30 Sunday afternoon.
