Highway 100 at I-94 reopens after semi strikes power line pole

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A semi-tractor trailer struck and downed a power line pole early Friday morning, June 28th on Hwy. 100 near I-94. All lanes were temporarily closed on Hwy. 100 near !-94 for repairs.

According to officials, the live wires from the power pole scorched the top of the semi along with a tire.

No injuries were sustained as a result of the incident.

The driver operating the semi-tractor trailer was cited for inattentive driving and operating over-length vehicle without a permit.

Police say the driver did have a permit that required him to exit at HWY100 (he was EB I-94 headed to Kenosha construction project with bridge support beams), but the permit also required a police vehicle escort.  He did not have the escort, which then nullifies the permit.
