He's turned himself in: 22-year-old man sought by officials in Fond du Lac is now in custody

FOND DU LAC (WITI) -- Law enforcement officials in Fond du Lac were searching for a 22-year-old man, wanted in connection with an incident that occurred on Saturday, July 5th. Just before 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10th, it was announced Colton Obrien has turned himself in.

Just before 1:00 a.m. on July 5th, Fond du Lac County Sheriff's deputies responded to a noise complaint on Elmore Drive, in the Town of Ashford.

A Sheriff's deputy observed three men behind a vehicle -- involved in drug activity.

When the deputy announced himself, the men fled the scene.

After a foot pursuit, the deputy attempted to use a taser to stop the 22-year-old man -- but the man continued to resist the deputy's efforts to take him into custody.

Sheriff's officials say the 22-year-old man struck the deputy multiple times, and attempted to remove the deputy's firearm from its holster.

Sheriff's officials say a second man -- a 19-year-old man from rural Campbellsport took the deputy's taser and pointed it at the deputy.

Both men then again fled the scene.

Deputies have since taken the 19-year-old rural Campbellsport man into custody. He was arrested on Wednesday, July 9th.

The 19-year-old man was taken into custody for disarming a peace officer, resisting/obstructing and possession of an electronic weapon.

The 22-year-old man is identified as Colton Obrien of Eden.

Obrien was wanted for disarming a peace officer, battery to a law enforcement officer and resisting/obstructing.
