CORDOVA, Tennessee -- Memphis police were called out to a daycare facility Monday evening, December 7th after a mother found her child left alone inside the center -- in the dark.
The mother told police she went to the Discovery Zone Learning Center on Bonnie Lane in Cordova, Tennessee around 9:45 p.m. Monday to pick up her son.
She noticed the daycare center was empty, the doors were locked, and her two-year-old son was alone inside, in the dark.
According to the daycare center's website, it is supposed to be open until 2:00 a.m.
Police had to force their way into the facility.
The two-year-old boy's grandmother says her grandson was upset.
"I'm really upset, because he could get into anything. He's a two-year-old and you should never leave a two-year-old unattended. It's bothering me and I'm so upset," the child's grandmother told WREG.
WREG has discovered 10 violations at the center since 2014.
