HEART-WRENCHING: After double-overtime win, Wizards' John Wall gets emotional, remembers close friend

WASHINGTON (WITI) -- After he scored 26 points, including Washington's last 10, the Wizards rallied for a 133-132 win over the Boston Celtics in double overtime on Monday, December 8th, Wizards guard John Wall got emotional -- breaking down as he talked about a very special friend, six-year-old Miyah Telemaque-Nelson.

"This was an emotional game for me. This is for Miyah," Wall said in a post-game interview.

Telemaque-Nelson died of cancer Monday morning.

"It's just tough to see a little kid fight so hard against cancer who can't beat it...it's a tough day for me," Wall said.

ESPN reports Wall met Telemaque-Nelson last March -- five months after she was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma. Wall started a social media campaign to help her meet rapper Nicki Minaj.

ESPN reports Wall wrote Miyah's name on his shoes all season, and had communicated with her as recently as two weeks ago via FaceTime.

A moment of silence was held in the little girl's honor before Monday's game -- a game wall dedicated to Miyah.
