Headed for trial: Janesville man who told police he killed three people

JANESVILLE (WITI) -- Clayton Courtney -- the Janesville man accused of killing his girlfriend and stabbing his roommate (nearly to death) will stand trial in the case against him.

A Rock County judge on Monday, May 19th found there is enough evidence for Courtney's case to go to trial.

Courtney faces six charges, including:

Courtney was arrested on Sunday night, May 4th -- after nearly stabbing his roommate, Michael Clark to death.

Police say at that time, Courtney told them he had killed three people.

On Monday, May 5th, police discovered the body of 21-year-old Britney Cross of Edgerton, Wisconsin near a Rock River bridge.

Police were investigating two "missing persons" cases to see if they could be connected to Courtney.

75-year-old Mary Coulthard's body was pulled from the Rock River on Friday, May 9th.

Officials were able to determine the cause of death to be drowning.

Police have said they have determined there is no connection to Courtney in Coulthard's death.

59-year-old Gerald Hockensmith was reported missing -- but he was found alive in northern Wisconsin on Monday, May 12th.
