Hartford woman suffers severe head injury after falling off home-built bicycle
WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A 19-year-old woman suffered a significant head injury after falling off her bike on Kings Way in Hartford shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14th.
According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the woman was riding a home-built bicycle made of various bicycle parts, and was not wearing a helmet. While riding on Kings Way, she fell and struck her head on the pavement, causing a severe head injury.
The teen was transported by Hartford Rescue to Aurora Medical Center, and then to Froedtert Trauma Center by Flight for Life.
Authorities say due to the head injury, the woman was not able to identify herself. Upon the request of the St. Lawrence Fire Department, they were able to learn who the woman was with a door-to-door canvas of the neighborhood.
The woman's name is not being released at this time.
The incident remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
