Hartford police seek suspect in armed robbery of Verizon store

HARTFORD (WITI) -- Hartford police are seeking an individual responsible for an armed robbery that occurred at the Verizon Wireless Store on E. Sumner Street in Hartford on Friday, April 4th.

It happened just before noon.

Police say the suspect entered the store, and produced a semi-automatic handgun. The suspect then demanded cell phones and cash. The store's employees complied with the suspect's demands, and he fled the scene.

No one was injured.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 20s, approximately 6'3" tall, weighing between 150 and 165 pounds with a "lanky" build.

The suspect was wearing a gray and white speckled hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his head, black pants and black shoes.

He was wearing a black bandanna over his face at the time of the robbery.

He was reportedly carrying a large black duffle bag and wearing a blue backpack.
