Girls help save Fond du Lac man trapped under pickup truck

FOND DU LAC -- Fond du Lac Fire officials say the quick thinking of two girls, ages 13 and 18 helped save a man when the pickup truck he was working on rolled off the wheel ramps, trapping him underneath.

The incident occurred on Monday night, May 14th.

The man was able to yell for help, and that's when the man's 13-year-old daughter and her 18-year-old friend jumped into action. One of the girls called 911 while the other found a portable hydraulic jack and began to lift the truck. Later, the man's friend came to the scene and further assisted in freeing the man.

“The positive outcome of this patient and fact he is alive today is a direct result of the action his daughter and her friend. Had those girls not acted calmly and quickly under the extreme emotional stress that must have been present, the patient may not have had a positive outcome," Paramedic Lieutenant Garth Schumacher said.
