Free hazardous-trash disposal in Milwaukee County

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Residents in Milwaukee County are getting a chance to drop off hazardous trash at no cost. The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District is holding a collection at State Fair Park on Friday and Saturday, April 13th and 14th.

Residents can drive up and drop off items including compact fluorescent light bulbs, motor oil and rechargeable batteries. The program has resulted in the collection of more than 14 million pounds of hazardous waste since it began 15 years ago.

Residents who can't make one of the Friday or Saturday drop-offs can visit facilities in Milwaukee, Franklin and Menomonee Falls that are open year-round.
