Fond du Lac fire officials respond to smell of ammonia on Dixie Street Wednesday night

FOND DU LAC (WITI) -- The Fond du Lac Fire Department was dispatched to the smell of ammonia at 356 Dixie Street on Wednesday night, July 23rd.

Upon arrival, fire crews monitored the immediate area around the building and found low readings.

The hazmat team was activated, members entered the structure, and found low readings.

They experienced higher readings on the roof of structure, so the management personnel shutdown refrigeration system in order to evaluate and repair system.

There were no injuries to report and no evacuation was necessary.

The Fond du Lac Police Department assisted with scene security, and traffic control.
