Firefighters from several departments called out to Nestle plant in Burlington

BURLINGTON -- Several fire departments on Friday morning, April 1st responded to reports of a fire at the Nestle plant in Burlington. As a result, a firefighter and employee were transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.

The call for this fire came in shortly before 5:00 a.m.

According to the Burlington Fire Department, crews were on scene within minutes of the initial call and located smoke in the "cocoa mill collector." The fire was in the smoldering phase.

Due to the location of the incident and the nature of the overhaul work involved, Incident Command activated MABAS to the box alarm level as a precautionary measure.

Additionally, one Nestle employee and one firefighter were transported to Aurora Burlington Hospital for medical evaluation.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.

No additional details have been released.
