Firefighters canvassing neighborhood after garage fire

FOND DU LAC (WITI) -- Firefighters in Fond du Lac are canvassing the area near Wedgewood Lane, passing out home fire safety information, after responding to a garage fire in the area on Tuesday night, April 22nd.

Firefighters were dispatched to a home on Wedgewood Lane around 8:45 p.m.

There, they discovered heavy smoke and fire in the garage -- but were able to extinguish it before it extended to the home.

Fire officials say the fire was contained to the garage -- and caused moderate damage.

No one was injured.

Fire officials believe the cause of the fire to be previously burned paper and ashes discarded in a trash container.
