Firefighters battle garage fire at home in Hales Corners

HALES CORNERS (WITI) -- Firefighters from several communities were busy battling a fire that broke out inside a garage at a home on Kurtz Rd. in Hales Corners on Thursday evening, March 20th.

The fire was called in around 4:28 p.m.

Upon firefighters arrival on scene, the home was found to be bellowing black smoke and flames.

Officials tell FOX6 News two people were in the house when the fire broke out. They were found to have minor injuries.

There is no word yet on what started the fire.

Fire officials say the smoke and fire caused extensive damage to the home and its contents.

The homeowners are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
