Fire crews extinguish garage fire in Town of Kewaskum

TOWN OF KEWASKUM (WITI) -- Fire crews in the Town of Kewaskum responded to the scene of a garage fire in the 8900 block of Highland Drive early Monday morning, December 23rd.

According to authorities, the property owner called officials after they were altered by a passing motorist that an unattached four-car garage on the property was on fire.

Officials say the blaze was quickly extinguished.

According to fire officials, the investigation revealed that the fire began near a chicken coop -- which was attached to the garage. Police say the coop housed waterfowl.

According to police, that part of the structure had electrical service to it and suffered the majority of the fire damage. The exact cause remains under investigation, however it does not appear suspicious in nature.

An exact amount of property damage is not known at this time.

No one was injured and it appeared that the waterfowl inside were able to escape from the enclosure.
