Fight at school: Officials called out to Willowglen Academy in Sheboygan
SHEBOYGAN COUNTY (WITI) -- The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department was called to the Willowglen Academy on County Road FF in Sheboygan on Monday, May 19th.
Officials say two students were fighting -- and started throwing things.
Something they threw broke some glass -- and a teacher was cut.
The Sheriff's Department did not explain the extent of the injuries suffered in this incident.
Willowglen Academy issued the following statement to FOX6 News:
"The Sheboygan Police Department was called to the Willowglen Academy School in Sheboygan this afternoon in response to an incident that occurred at our school. We would like to inform the community that our students and staff are now safely at home; we appreciate the support and assistance of the Sheboygan Police Department in the resolution of this incident. At Willowglen Academy School, the safety and security of our students and staff is our utmost priority, and we are fully cooperating with authorities as they investigate the incident.
As a provider of healthcare services, we are bound by the provisions of HIPAA. As such, we have an obligation to protect the identity of those we serve. We cannot disclose any further information about the individuals involved in this incident."
According to its website, Willowglen Academy: "Serves male and female children and adolescents from 10 years to 17 years with significant mental health issues and/or developmental delays. These consumers often experience emotional disturbances, mental illness and have borderline intellectual functioning levels."
