Female student taken to hospital after falling down bluff at Sheridan Park in Cudahy

CUDAHY -- A female Cudahy High School student on Monday, May 16th was taken to the hospital after she fell down a bluff in Cudahy.

It happened at Sheridan Park near Lake Drive and Layton Avenue.

Officials with the Cudahy Fire Department tell FOX6 News the student was on a field trip for a photography class and was on the edge of the bluff when she suffered a medical emergency, and she then slid/fell about 40 feet down the bluff.

Fire officials said the female student appeared to be OK -- but she was taken to the hospital to be checked over.

Firefighters had to rappel down the bluff to render aid and rescue the student. They used a "stokes basket" and ropes to bring her up to street level.

The Cudahy Fire Department also used an ATV they got for calls like this in the park. This was the first time the ATV was used in a rescue case, we're told.
