Fatal crash: One dead following crash near 29th & Locust; police seek driver

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning, April 8th.  It happened around 12:30 a.m. near 29th and Locust.

According to police,  an SUV was traveling northbound on N. 29th Street when its driver failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with a car traveling westbound on W. Locust Street.  After the initial collision, the SUV hit a light pole and the car collided with a fence.

Two  passengers inside the SUV, a 29-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, suffered non-life threatening injures and were transported to a local hospital.  A third passenger inside the SUV, a 30-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the SUV fled and MPD is currently searching for him.

A relative tells FOX6 News Orienthian Morris was the passenger who died in this crash. His cousin says they know who the driver is, and they're hoping he'll turn himself in.

"I don't think that it was intentional. It definitely wasn't intentional, but he can at least turn himself in and give more details so the family can get a little bit more closure," Clarice McGowan said.

McGowan tells FOX6 News her cousin leaves behind six brothers and sisters, and six children of his own.
