Fatal crash: Driver pronounced dead after crashing into tree in Township of Herman
DODGE COUNTY -- Dodge County officials are investigating after a person traveling in an SUV struck a tree and died on County Highway DW at Idaho Road Saturday, March 5th.
According to officials, the crash took place in the Township of Herman in Dodge County around 12:30 p.m.
Preliminary investigation shows that the SUV was traveling north on Idaho Road and failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with County Highway DW. Authorities say the SUV vaulted, struck a tree and a fire ensued.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old Alan Heider of New Berlin, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner.
The Wisconsin State Patrol, Allenton Fire and EMS, and the Dodge County Medical Examiner all assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
