Ex-Miss America Laura Kaeppeler Fleiss to lead Miss Kenosha Scholarship Pageant

KENOSHA — A former Miss America has stepped up to lead the Miss Kenosha Scholarship Pageant, which was at risk of being canceled next year for lack of an executive director.

The Kenosha News (http://bit.ly/2gyWRZx ) reports Laura Kaeppeler Fleiss has agreed to take on the job of directing the local pageant. The job requires running rehearsals, selling tickets, securing judges and guests, designing the program booklets and getting donations and sponsors.

Fleiss captured the Miss America title in 2012 after being crowned Miss Kenosha and Miss Wisconsin. She will replace Sarah Roberts, who became the executive director last year and left the position in June.

Fleiss says the first thing she'll do is secure a date and location for the contest. She says interested participants must be a full-time Kenosha County resident and either work or study full time.
