"Everyone is welcome:" Putting on the finishing touches at PrideFest for the 30th annual celebration

MILWAUKEE -- The celebration might be a bit bigger this year, as PrideFest 2016 marks a milestone in the annual festival's history. This marks the 30th year Milwaukee has hosted PrideFest, and the 20th year the event has been held at Henry Maier Festival Park.

"Everyone is welcome. Everyone is accepted," said Divine Trash, PrideFest performer.

On Friday morning, June 10th the finishing touches were being put into place at Milwaukee's Henry Maier Festival Park, as the city's PrideFest 2016 is about to start the celebration.

We have Sarah Silverman tonight, and Blondie on Sunday," said Mark Gerber, PrideFest Director of Entertainment and Programming.

Mark Gerber is PrideFest's director of entertainment and programming. He explains, on the festival's 30th anniversary, there are eight stages of excitement -- including one festgoers have never experienced.

"We have a brand new stage this year. It's called "Milwaukee Records." They do pretty much all local acts," said Gerber.

"It's a celebration of people like me," said Divine.

Divine Trash says she's here to perform her tribute to the legendary Drag Queen, Divine, and to share her style with any and all.

"I'm not saying that us, LGBT people, are different or anything, but in the world today, we still are not norm -- we're not considered 'normal'. So this is a place where everyone can be who they wanna be, without the judgement of everyone else," said Divine.

"We get calls from Georgia, from California, from Florida -- that people are coming up to the festival, because it's one of the best PrideFests around," sad Gerber.

PrideFest tickets cost $17 a day, but there are three-day passes available for $37.
