Early morning fire damages barn in Village of Somers; cause under investigation
VILLAGE OF SOMERS -- Deputies and the Village of Somers Fire Department responded to a barn fire on 38th Street near 72nd Street early Wednesday morning, August 17th. The call came in around 3:45 a.m.
When crews arrived on scene, they found a barn full engulfed in flames.
The property owner advised the barn was filled with 5,000 bales of straw, farm equipment and recreational vehicles. Fire departments from Somers, Randall, Paris, Caledonia, Zion, Kansasville, Burlington, and the Racine Fire Bells are on scene at this time.
County Highway S/Washington Road is closed at this time between State Highway 31/Green Bay Road and County Highway EA/72nd Avenue. The road is expected to be closed until approximately 10:00 a.m..
The cause of the fire at this time is unknown and an investigation is being conducted.
