Downtown Milwaukee arena to get new name this week

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A new naming rights sponsor for the U.S. Cellular Arena in downtown Milwaukee is expected to be revealed this week.

The chairman of the Wisconsin Center District, which owns the arena, expects an announcement on Friday, May 30th.

There has been speculation that UW-Milwaukee or the Milwaukee Wave could be taking over the naming rights. Whoever it is will pay about $2.4 million.

U.S. Cellular declined to continue its naming rights deal. It expires on Saturday, May 31st.
