DNR taking deer observation information

MADISON (AP) -- The state Department of Natural Resources is inviting the public to tell the agency about deer they see over the next two months.

The DNR wants people to record all bucks, does and fawns they see in the wild on a tally sheet and enter the numbers online through Sept. 30. The tally should include the date, deer management unit number and the type and number of deer observed.

The DNR will send a report summarizing each participant's observations to everyone who supplies an email address on the observation forms.

The data helps the agency track herd reproduction trends.
