GLASTONBURY, Connecticut -- Hours after it was announced that a Connecticut daycare worker was arrested, accused of abusing children, the center's director was also arrested.
The daycare worker, 22-year-old Nicole Mayo is accused of hitting, restraining, force-feeding and handling roughly several two-year-old children at "The Stork Club" daycare center over the last year.
“To my knowledge, the children were not injured," Sgt. Corey Davis with the Glastonbury Police Department said.
Mayo was arrested on Friday, March 18th, and she has been charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.
On Monday, March 21st, police arrested the daycare center's director -- 40-year-old Meegan Beach. She faces three counts of failure to report child abuse and risk of injury to a minor.
According to police, there's no evidence the Beach ever notified the Department of Children and Families or authorities about the ongoing abuse, which she is mandated to do by state law.
Police also say several other employees told Beach about Mayo's abusive behavior towards the kids, but that she didn't do anything about it.
The investigation by police began in December 2015, when police received a complaint from DCF.
Police say there haven't been any other complaints involving children or employees at the center.
Mayo, who has no criminal history, was released on $65,000 bond and is due in court on April 6th.
Beach is being held on a $40,000 bond.
