Day-long standoff at Milwaukee motel comes to an end Wednesday

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A nearly day-long standoff in Milwaukee came to an end on Wednesday evening, October 16th. Officials say an armed robbery suspect was holed up in a hotel near Appleton and Nash.

According to officials, officers of the Neighborhood Task Force responded to a motel near Nash and W. Appleton in order to arrest armed robbery suspect Patrick Somerset.

When officials arrived on the scene, Somertset slammed the door on the officers and retreated back in to the room, claiming he had a gun. Streets around the motel were blocked off.

Members of the departments Crisis Negotiation Unit negotiated with Somertset until 3:45 p.m., when Somertset came out on his own and was arrested.

Police say Somertset had been identified as the suspect in multiple armed robberies.

No one was injured during the standoff.
