County Board Supervisor Sanfelippo to run for state Assembly

WEST ALLIS -- Milwaukee County Board Supervisor Joe Sanfelippo of West Allis has announced he will run for Wisconsin State Assembly in the 15th District. The newly redrawn district includes parts of West Allis and New Berlin.

Sanfelippo is a Republican running on a platform of protecting the future for children by continuing to build on the progress he says the state has seen over the past year. Sanfelippo says he will work to continue to improve the business climate in the state by eliminating outdated, costly regulations so Wisconsin can compete for business that will provide jobs.

Sanfelippo said in a statement: “We as legislators and citizens need to make sure that when our kids finish school, whether it is at the college, graduate, technical, or trade school level, they have the opportunity and incentive to stay right here in Wisconsin. This is how we will continue moving Wisconsin forward.”

Sanfelippo has been a County Board Supervisor since 2008, and has stepped into several leadership roles including Chairman for the Personnel Committee and new Behavioral Health Facility Study Committee.

Sanfelippo began his first business selling fruits and vegetables, sod, topsoil and nursery stock on 35th & Forest Home Ave. at the age of 16, and the business eventually grew into a landscaping company that he operated for 25 years.

Sanfelippo and his wife Becky, a parochial school teacher in Milwaukee, have been married for 24 years and have three children -- Andrea, Joe and Gina. The family has lived in the City of West Allis since 1993.

West Allis Rep. Tony Staskunas announced Tuesday, April 17th he is not seeking re-election.
