Contact 6: Does Light Keeper Pro save Christmas lights?

MILWAUKEE -- Christmas tree lights can be a struggle -- especially if one bulb is burnt out, ruining the others. FOX6's Contact 6 says before buying a new set of lights, the Light Keeper Pro says it is the fix! Contact 6 put this product to the test.

The Light Keeper Pro says for nearly $15, it can save burned out Christmas lights -- a problem Rob Adrian knows well.

"I've come to the point where the lights burn out after one use, so we just end up throwing out and buying new lights every year," Adrian said.

Not anymore, if the Light Keeper Pro delivers on its promise.

FOX6's Contact 6 discovered the directions are necessary, because the Light Keeper Pro is somewhat complicated. The device has places to test bulbs, and when it is run over the light strand, it is like a metal detector when it comes to detecting voltage and locating any circuit interruptions. The device is meant to point out the bad bulbs.

Eventually, it is discovered that each bulb on the strand must be tested out individually, according to Contact 6's tests.

In the end, the testing took so long Adrian said he'd likely just buy a new strand of lights.

"I don't think I'd spend this much time doing this," Adrian said.

Others say the Light Keeper Pro product works great -- but FOX6's Contact 6 is not a fan.
