Community Mosaic Project: Bringing artists, schools, businesses together for art
MILWAUKEE -- It's a project that brings together artists, businesses, schools and community -- all while creating a piece of public art. Sue Millin and Melanie Gonring joined the Studio A team to talk about the Community Mosaic Project.
About the Community Mosaic Project
Everyone is invited to participate in our first Community Mosaic Project art display. Create a 6" x 6" canvas using materials of your choice ... paint, pen & ink, photography, fiber arts, text, three-dimensional elements, anything goes as long as it fits on the canvas.
We suggest that the square depict what "community" means to you, however there are no restrictions regarding subject matter or medium as long as its appropriate, created using the supplied canvas, and does not exceed the size of the canvas.
Canvases can be picked up starting October 12 at the Volunteer Center, Museum of Wisconsin Art, the Schauer Arts Center or the Cedar Valley Retreat Center. When you pick up your canvas you will be asked to sign a participation agreement. Final works must be returned to one of those locations by November 23.
