COMMITTED: Man charged in death of his own father institutionalized for life

WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) -- 38-year-old Beau Musial of Colgate -- charged in connection with the murder of his 76-year-old father, has been committed to the state's Department of Health Services for life -- and will be committed to a mental health institution.

Washington County Sheriff's officials say Musial turned himself in to officials on December 21st, 2013 -- and confessed to killing his father.

Deputies responded to an address on Upland Drive in the Village of Richfield and found the victim dead inside the home.

Musial was found guilty of one felony count of first degree intentional homicide -- but was found not guilty due to mental disease/defect.

Though Musial is committed for life, he is able to petition for conditional release (change in placement) and/or early termination of his commitment.
