Coast Guard searching for three missing kayakers (two of them young boys) in Door County

DOOR COUNTY (WITI) -- The Door County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Coast Guard are searching for three missing kayakers.

Authorities say the kayakers, including two nine-year-old boys, left Nicolet Bay in Peninsula State Park around 4:00 Thursday afternoon, July 10th and headed toward Eagle Harbor.

Authorities gave out this description of the kayakers:

“The missing kayaks are described as a yellow kayak operated by a 43-year-old female wearing a yellow life jacket.

The second kayak, a two person kayak, is orange in color operated by two nine-year-old boys -- one wearing a red colored life jacket and the other a blue life jacket.”

The DNR is also helping with the search.
