CNH Industrial in Mount Pleasant to lay off about 105 full-time workers

MOUNT PLEASANT -- CNH Industrial has confirmed that about 105 full-time workers will be laid off indefinitely from the Mount Pleasant tractor plant.

The equipment maker says the layoffs are in response to sluggish market conditions.

Layoffs from the plant will begin later in January.

This will be the third job reduction at the plant since November 2014, when 150 employees were furloughed as a result of slowing agricultural equipment sales.

Another 100 employees were laid off in March of 2015.

The plant now has about 520 production workers.
