City of Milwaukee four-inch rule now in effect

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — The city of Milwaukee's “four-inch rule” goes into effect at 5 a.m. Wednesday, February 27th. In addition, there will be no garbage or recycling pick-ups.

The rule says if marked, drivers should not park on streets until plows have had a chance to clean to the curb.

Check for posted signs first for winter parking regulations on those streets where you plan to park or click here.

If there are no posted signs, click here for more information, or call 414-286-CITY (2489) – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Department of Public Works also offers a text message alert system called Snow Mobile-Winter Text Alert, which informs subscribers when the city declares a snow emergency or when the “four-inch rule” goes into effect. Sign up for this alert at milwaukee.gov/mpw.
