Champions Challenge kicks off soccer season, who's the top soccer pub?

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Southeastern Wisconsin spends Saturday, May 24th getting its soccer kicks in Milwaukee's Lake Park during the annual Champions Challenge.

Milwaukee's Lake Park hosts the event, which pits pubs, including the Highbury, The Nomad, Upper-Ninety, Three Lions, and Cafe Bavaria against each other in a friendly competition.

"We want to bring down all these kids, to the lakefront to play soccer. There's also room for adults, you know, we`re not excluding anybody," said James Moran, MSDG founder.

The challenge also serves as a fundraiser for the Milwaukee Soccer Developments Group's upcoming Lakefront Soccerfest, on Sunday, June 15th, in Veteran's Park.

"We just wanna make sure it's affordable for everybody. If teams can't afford it, you know, I'm encouraging them to contact me, so that I can put them on it." said Moran.

Moran says he wants to make sure that no one is excluded from taking part in the event. According to the futbol folks, soccer is all about the games and the gathering.
