Car careens into picnic table, killing Madison boy

MADISON (AP) -- A seven-year-old boy was killed and members of his family were injured when a car careened off a road, went airborne and landed on their picnic table.

Authorities say the family was having dinner at the table on private property across from Garner Park when the car left the road, hit a tree and went airborne about 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 5th.

The Dane County medical examiner's office identifies the victim as Aiden Mueller.

Preliminary autopsy results indicate he died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.

A 36-year-old woman was critically injured.

A 38-year-old man and 4-year-old girl suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The injured were taken to University and Meriter hospitals.
