CANCELLED: ZZ Top cancels its appearance at the 2014 Washington County Fair
WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) -- ZZ Top has canceled its appearance at the 2014 Washington County Fair, which was scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26.
The fair was contacted late Monday, July 21st by the band directly, and learned that bass player Dusty Hill will undergo surgery to remove two kidney stones this week. The kidney stones were discovered during the course of a routine physical examination, and Hill's doctor advised him that they should be immediately removed so they don't cause more serious problems in the future.
The Washington County Fair suspended ticket sales immediately, and is working to identify and announce a new band for July 26 in the next 24-48 hours.
"Although we are very disappointed that this much-anticipated show will not go on as planned, we understand that Mr. Hill's medical condition is something that must take priority," said Sandy Lang, Executive Director/Fair Manager, Washington County Fair Park & Conference Center. We are working nonstop to secure a new headliner, and are confident that we'll have some great news to announce in the very near future," Lang added.
The organization will provide details on ticket refunds when the new band is announced. Updates on this situation will be posted on the fair's website: http://www.wcfairpark.com/.
