Camping a popular, affordable choice for summer getaways

CALEDONIA (WITI) -- Jellystone Park in Caledonia is a booked solid over the holiday weekend, and continues to be a popular location for campers throughout the summer.

"When you know it's going to be so full and so nice outside, the people are going 'ok, let`s go. We have no reason not to go,'" says General Manager Bridget Bender.

Bender says camping appeals to so many families because it's an affordable option for a summer vacation.

"Get away from the every day things, working, working around the house. Just get away and relax," says camper Scott Kwasniewski.

A family of four can reserve a campsite at Jellystone for about $140 -- and all that really needs to be packed is a tent.

Managers at Jellystone Park say they expect to be busy through Halloween. The park can accommodate approximately 1,500 people on any given weekend.
