Cabinet maker's workshop a total loss following fire in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- A large response in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday night, December 2nd after a fire broke out at a workshop on Gittings Road.

Crews were dispatched the the scene just before 8:00 p.m.

Upon their arrival, crews found a 20 foot by 40 foot workshop fully involved. Officials say the workshop was approximately 150 feet from the occupant's house and 15 feet from an additional workshop.

We're told the workshop that caught fire is a total loss. The additional workshop that was located approximately 15 feet from the one that caught fire sustained minor exterior damage.

Fire units remained on the scene for over three hours overhauling the structure and investigating the fire’s cause.

The investigation is still underway.

South Shore Firefighters were assisted at the scene by members of the Caledonia FD, Raymond FD, Paris FD, Racine Fire Bells and Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
