Butler police officers discuss porn, nudity on the job

BUTLER (WITI) -- FOX6 News has obtained DVDs of Butler police officers discussing crude actions during work hours.

The recordings were released, Thursday, June 20th after a scathing report detailing inappropriate behavior in the department was released on June 6th.

One by one, officers were led into a Waukesha County Sheriff's Department conference room where they admitted to behaviors ranging from racist comments to viewing pornography.

Chief Michael Cosgrove admits that most of his staff view porn on the job.

INVESTIGATOR: Have you shown it to other people at work?

"It has been a group function, yes," answered Cosgrove.

The initial investigation focused on Chief Cosgrove, however quickly expanded to include the entire department.

"That place felt like a frat house, not a PD," said Officer Boyle.

"When we were getting dressed, moon somebody or pull down your pants. I guess just clowning around," said Officer Rahm.

Investigators' questions also exposed a lack of training in the department.

"We have never received any training on the tazer or use of force since I have been there," said Boyle.

Cosgrove retired shortly after the investigation was launched. The other officers involved remain on staff.

Punishments range from a written reprimand to a three day suspension. One officer, who has not been named, has been referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office for criminal charges.

The Village Administrator says the entire department will be retrained.
