Business owner pledges $50,000 to WI Humane if 500 dogs adopted

MILWAUKEE -- Business owner Stan Kass has said he will donate $50,000 to the Wisconsin Humane Society if 500 animals are adopted during the month of September!

After Kass' wife lost her battle with cancer in 2010, Kass felt like his whole world was over. He found new love with a rescue dog named Reggie -- a three-year-old German Shepard/Husky mix. The dog became more than a companion.

"Reggie and me are inseparable. He's really saved my life and I hope other dogs can save other people," Kass said.

To say "thank you" to the Wisconsin Humane Society, Kass is pledging to rescue more animals. If 500 dogs are adopted in September, Kass will donate $50,000 to the shelter.

"He wants to inspire the community too and it makes such a big difference for us. It affects all the animals here and it affects people who bring these animals into their lives. It really gives people some incentive. If they've always been on the fence about adopting they'll get around to it, but something like this really inspires them to make a difference now," Angela Speed with the Wisconsin Humane Society said.

Just like Reggie changed Kass' life, Kass is hoping his $50,000 promise will inspire others and change others' lives.

Kass made a similar pledge last year, and donated $100,000 after 1,000 animals were rescued in 28 days.
