Blowing, drifting snow causing hazardous driving conditions

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Blowing and drifting snow combined with high winds are creating hazardous driving conditions on the freeway system. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is advising motorists to reduce speeds.

The Wisconsin State Patrol reports many motorists are driving too fast; on I-94 in Racine County alone, average speeds are well above what is reasonable and prudent for the conditions. Since 7:00 a.m., there have been multiple rollover incidents reported along most of the major corridors in Southeast Wisconsin.

If you are in an accident, remember to stay in your vehicle if appropriate and alert law enforcement of the incident.

If you must travel, check road conditions by calling 5-1-1 or on 511wi.gov.
