BIG backups on Highway 41 near Lomira, following fatal crash

WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) -- Wisconsin State Patrol officials tell FOX6 News one person is dead following a crash that led to big backups on Highway 41 near Lomira on Tuesday, September 9th.

The crash happened during rush hour, around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 41 near Highway 28.

We're told a vehicle headed northbound on Highway 41 crossed over the median and went into the southbound lanes. There, the vehicle struck the back of a tow truck -- sending the tow truck into the median.

That's when a semi, headed southbound on Highway 41 struck the vehicle -- forcing it into the median.

The semi also went into the median.

The vehicle flipped onto its side, and the vehicle's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man killed in the crash has been identified as 60-year-old John Schneider of Theresa.

Highway 41 was shut down in both directions for several hours following the crash. It wasn't expected to reopen until after 10:00 p.m.
