Best fair stories from the Waukesha County Fair contest

Dear Chuck: I didn’t have to think long and hard before deciding to enter this contest because I definitely hold many Waukesha County Fair memories near and dear in my heart.  20 years ago, my then 72-year old mother and I started a tradition of spending time at the Waukesha County Fair.  When this tradition first started in July of 1992, I was seven months pregnant and found the wonderful milk tent where we were able to buy a bottomless cup of white or chocolate milk for a quarter.  Of course, we always bought some great food from the local fair vendors, but then relaxed in the milk tent drinking many cups of milk.  My mother and I continued the tradition for 18 years and of course, my daughter has joined us annually as well since 1993.  Two years ago, my mother’s failing health and Alzheimer’s has now prevented her from joining us, but my daughter and I always raise one chocolate and one white glass to my dear mother as we continue to share memories under the red and white milk tent where the bottomless cup is still a deal at $1.00.  It’s great to support the local farmers too! Kim W. ---------------------------------------------------- My favorite fair memory is from 1975, I was 15 and my parents took me to the fairgrounds before the fair opened, I hadn't had my first job yet. The Corn Dog wagon had a sign for help wanted and they hired me. That's not the best part. Because I worked long hours I got to see all the behind the scenes stuff. I met so many people and saw  how many things are done it was exciting and fun, even a little educational too. I stayed at the fair grounds and slept with some of my friends in sleeping bags under the Ferris wheel. The things we did when we were young :)  One of the favorite memories of my life. The fair lasted 4 days and I experienced many firsts.  What a great time. Would love to win the tickets, we have grandchildren we love to take to fairs, festivals, etc. Brenda E. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some of my fair memories are from the Waukesha County Fair in the 1980's.   I remember saving up my money so I could play fair games like the dart throw (where you pop the balloons).  Every year I'd come home with stuffed animals, feather hair clips and printed rock star mirrors that I'd won.  My friends and I would ride all of the rides all day because we had the wrist bands.  The Scrambler and the Zipper were the best rides!   Also, the best hamburger I ever had was from one of the carnival food vendors at the fair. To this day I can not find another hamburger that was a good as that one. Those are some of my best fair memories. Michelle G. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Best memory  for my adult time is going every Wed. night for dollar days with the kids and my mom.She loved to watch the kids on all the kids and than get the bag of donuts YUMMY .. Than on Friday or Sat night having the FUN sister night where we would go kid free and enjoy the music.  BUT the best memory of all was about age 13 yrs old when My mom and Dad would go see their band and we were able to have FUN on all the rides best one tilt a world to this day I still try to get on there at least 2 times.The fair is something we look forward to EVERY summer... come on July .I love to make some more memories for the younger kids but sad that mom wont be able to make some more with us.
