Bartelt to have two trials, one for Blodgett death

WEST BEND (WITI) — 19-year-old Daniel Bartelt, the man charged in connection with the death of Jessie Blodgett, will have two trials instead of one.

Bartelt is accused of sneaking into Blodgett's home, tying her up and strangling her in July 2013. Bartelt was also accused of attacking another woman in Richfield Park days before Blodgett's death. There were three charges associated with the two cases.

In court on Monday, January 13th, Bartelt's attorney argued the incidents with the two women had nothing to do with each other. But the prosecutor said it showed Bartelt's attempt to be a serial killer.

The judge agreed the incidents were dis-similar except tape that was found at each incident.
