Authorities respond to two-alarm house fire in Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC -- Fond du Lac officials responded to a house fire that took place on Central Avenue near 9th Street Friday afternoon, August 26th.

According to the Fond du Lac Fire Department, they responded to a call of smoke coming from a home on Central Ave.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire conditions inside the home which was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Officials say they were able to extinguish the fire but not before it caused severe damage to the home.

The Fond du Lac Humane Society was called to the scene to care for a dog and cat that died in the fire -- one kitten that was found did survive.

No injuries were reported as a result of this fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
