Arts Connect brings "Wicked" cast member to Riverside University High School

MILWAUKEE -- On stage is exactly where Riverside University High School junior Quinese Farr wants to be.

"I want to go into choreography, dance, or acting in theater," said Farr.

So she was thrilled when she found out "Wicked" cast member Ryan Jackson was making a visit to her school.

"It's really cool, it's like I'm star struck right now," said Farr.

This is all a part of the Marcus Center's Arts Connect program.

"Arts Connect is an opportunity for the Marcus Center to bring the resources that come in to town with Broadway shows like "Wicked" and connect them to high school students interested in theater," said Marcus Center President and CEO Paul Mathews.

The students got an inside look into show business and learned choreography from a "Wicked" dance number.

"How they start class and how they finish class they're usually two completely different people because by the end they just get hungry because they're starting to get it and it's fun," said Jackson.

Giving students like Farr the confidence...

"It makes me feel I like I can do it seeing people come in and work with us and do internships with us when they don't have to," said Farr.

To turn her passion into a career.

Arts Connect began last summer during the run of "Mo Town the Musical." Students learned about on stage and behind the scenes job opportunities in theater.
