American Freight Furniture/Mattress closed temporarily after roof collapse

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The American Freight Furniture and Mattress store located at 8875 North 76th Street in Milwaukee is temporarily closed due to a collapsed roof. The collapse occurred on Monday night, February 17th - after southeastern Wisconsin saw several inches of snow.

An American Freight Furniture and Mattress spokeswoman says heavy snow and ice is likely the cause of the issue. No one was injured when the incident occurred.

While the store is closed, the other American Freight location in the city of Milwaukee will be available to service all customer accounts.

The South Milwaukee store is situated at 3804 South 27th Street and can assist with layaway payments, account inquiries, new purchases, deliveries, and any other questions customers may have.

“Due to the harsh conditions and large amounts of snow we have experienced this winter, a portion of our roof in the Milwaukee North store collapsed on Monday,” said Kelly Warren, spokesperson for American Freight. “We are glad to report that no one was injured when this occurred and that our Milwaukee South store is open to service all customers, including layaway payments and deliveries. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our valued customers.”

The South Milwaukee store can be reached at 414-282-2111 and is open Monday-Thursday 10am-8pm, Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday 10am-7pm, and Sunday 12pm-5pm.
