SUSSEX (WITI) -- Deputies with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department arrested a 20-year-old Village of Sussex man on Thursday afternoon, October 24th.
Officials tell FOX6 News, they were notified late Wednesday that someone near Champeny Rd. and Bowling Green St. was making improvised explosive devices.
On Wednesday morning, officials began getting residents of the townhouse complex out of the neighborhood. They apparently went in around 1 p.m. and eventually took the man in question into custody. They say he was being cooperative.
"I don't really want to get into motive right now. We have a lot more work to do from an investigative standpoint," said Eric Severson of the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad was called in to search the man's townhouse. That search was expected to last until late Thursday afternoon.
The bomb squad removed and detonated two improvised explosive devices from the apartment. The ATF assisted in the investigation of the IEDs.
"The devices that we found were devices that were explosive in nature. They were homemade devices. I don't really want to go into any more detail at this time," said Severson.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, officials gave the "all clear" in the Sussex neighborhood -- and residents displaced were allowed back into their homes.
The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department and ATF continue to investigate the situation.
