ADP: Private sector added 192,000 jobs in January

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The private sector added 192,000 jobs in January, slightly higher than expected, according to the latest report from payroll processing firm ADP.

Analysts were expecting the private sector to add 175,000 jobs in the month, according to Briefing.com

Small businesses led the way, hiring 115,000 workers.

The ADP report is closely monitored since it comes before the government's monthly reports on payrolls and unemployment. The Labor Department will release those figures Friday morning. Economists are expecting 180,000 jobs added and that the unemployment rate dipped slightly to 7.7%.
